This is not a quibble about whether or not money is important; money is important. Goods and services are more important. The inequitable distribution of goods and services is a serious problem that is not being addressed. Supplying sufficient goods and services so that all may live comfortably in also a serious problem that needs to be addressed. The "masters of wall street" have failed on both counts. There in lies the problem.
Solutions are not simple. Solutions are multifaceted and are not a one size fits all.
1) Corporations are not individuals and should not be treated as individuals. A constitutional amendment needs to be passed asserting this simple fact.
2) Corporate charters should not be left to the states, but should be nationalized so all corporations adhere to the same standards of reporting, transparency, bankruptcy, and on and on.
3) Banks should either be made much smaller or be nationalized. Banking is too important for too big to fail and too critical for oligarchies to control loans, credits, . . . are given and to whom.
4) No corporation should be allowed to control a market place, be that corporation Apple, Microsoft, Google, Boeing, Toyota, . . . Either the marketplace has many corporations competing with products or the marketplace should be heavily regulated and profits controlled.
5) Patents, trademarks and copyrights need to be revised. Patents should be for at most 5 years; copyrights for at most 10 years and trademarks for 30 years. New ideas do not spring from nothing, they are based on older ideas. To somehow give a corporation a copyright for ever on Mickey Mouse is ridiculous.
7) pre K - postgraduate education should be tuition free to all who are qualified. This should also include learning a trade. Of course I would also stimulate those received an education in areas where we need work to be done such as robotics and green energy. The stimulation would come in the form of fellowship money for training in those areas.
8) Single payer medicare for all should be implemented immediately and the country should move quickly towards a VHA health care system for all.
9) Each person should be provided with a free room, free board, and a high speed Internet connection as well as server space to set up their own web pages.
10) Heavy investment in green energy, computing, education, infrastructure, . . . needs to commence immediately. If the "masters of wall street" will not invest, then the government much.
11) Free birth control should be provided for all. Men who get a vasectomy should receive 10 thousand dollars. Women who receive a tubal ligation should receive 250 thousand dollars. Birth management is absolutely critical to our future.
12) Our goal should be to change the world in twenty five years. If we don't the human race will not be recognizable a 200 years from now.
